Interview: Mike Morris from Writing on the Wall

This year marks 25 years of Writing on the Wall, Liverpool’s festival of radical writing, art, music, and activism. To celebrate, Florrie Radio sits down with co-director Mike Morris to look back on the festival’s powerful roots in the Liverpool Dockers’ Strike, its legacy of championing unheard voices, and what’s in store for this milestone edition of WoWFEST

We talk about everything from the incredible 2025 line-up; featuring the likes of Michael Rosen, Irvine Welsh, & Jackie Kay, to the importance of art as a tool for social justice in today’s world.

Mike also shares insight into one of the festival’s headline events, Liverpool Rising Against Racism at St George’s Hall, a powerful night of music and spoken word uniting communities through creativity and resistance.

Tune in for a deep dive into the stories, struggles, and radical hope behind one of Liverpool’s most vital cultural events.
