Housing & Welfare Support

Speak to your local councillor

Need to speak to your local Councillor?

Cllr Munby holds a weekly surgery at The Florrie every Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm. This is a drop-in session, so no appointment is needed. If you have concerns about housing, neighbourhood issues, local services, or need help raising an issue with the council, you can come along and speak directly in person.

Help with Debt, Bills and Budgeting

If you’re struggling with debt, rising utility costs, or finding it difficult to manage your finances, our friendly team is here to help.

We offer practical support and guidance with:

  • Managing household bills
  • Budgeting and financial planning
  • Understanding letters and payment demands
  • Accessing the right support services

Call in every Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm and speak to a member of staff in confidence.

Free Computers and WiFi

We also provide free access to computers and WiFi within the building. If you need to:

  • Apply for benefits
  • Update your Universal Credit account
  • Access housing portals
  • Complete online forms

You’re welcome to use our facilities, and staff are on hand during advice sessions if you need a bit of guidance.

Employment and Skills Support

At The Florrie, volunteering is at the heart of everything we do.

All of our classes are delivered by volunteers who generously share their time, skills and experience with the community. From creative workshops and fitness sessions to peer support groups, our volunteers make it happen.

There are lots of ways to get involved:

  • Running or supporting community classes
  • Helping at events and large scale community days
  • Supporting projects and activities across the building
  • Getting involved with Florrie Radio
  • Assisting with admin, digital, or front of house roles

Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to build confidence, develop new skills and gain valuable work experience. Many people use their time at The Florrie to strengthen their CV, explore new career paths, or take their first steps back into employment.

We also offer work experience placements, including opportunities for young people completing school work experience. We aim to provide meaningful, supportive placements that help people grow and move forward.

If you’re interested in volunteering or gaining work experience, please contact info@theflorrie.org for more information.
