Welcome to The Florrie’s Play It Forward project hub. This is the central place to get involved with The Florrie’s musical instrument repair, recycling and re‑homing scheme.
Play It Forward is a community‑led repair and reuse project for musical instruments and equipment. Instruments are donated, assessed, repaired where needed and then gifted or re‑homed with individuals, families, schools and community groups across Liverpool City Region.
The project reduces waste, supports the circular economy and removes barriers to music‑making for people on low incomes or from under‑represented backgrounds.
If you have a musical instrument or piece of equipment that’s no longer being used, we’d love to give it a new home.
You can donate:
For larger instruments such as drum kits and pianos, we act as a connector rather than a storage point. We don’t have the space to store these items on site, but we will help match people who are giving them away with individuals, groups or organisations who need them.
Instruments can be in working order or in need of repair.
To donate an instrument, please get in touch using the contact form below or drop into The Florrie to arrange a hand‑in.
We’re building a friendly team of volunteers to help repair, refurbish and care for donated instruments. They meet every Monday morning at 10:30am here at The Florrie.
You don’t need to be an expert. If you have basic practical skills, an interest in music or want to learn about instrument repair, we’d love to hear from you.
Volunteering opportunities include:
To volunteer, contact us via the form below and tell us a bit about your skills or interests.
If you or someone you support would benefit from access to a musical instrument, you can request one through Play It Forward.
Requests are open to:
When an instrument is gifted through Play It Forward, it belongs to the recipient forever. We simply ask that if someone later outgrows the instrument or no longer needs it, they consider returning it to The Florrie so it can be repaired if needed and passed on to someone else.
All requests are considered carefully to make sure instruments go to those who need them most.
To request an instrument, please complete the contact form below with as much detail as possible.
Whether you want to donate an instrument, volunteer your time or request support, we’d love to hear from you.
