The Florrie’s famous open mic night is back! Returning to regular service after last month’s successful Oasis theme, everyone is welcome to join us for a great night of entertainment! Whether you’re a musician, singer or poet, feel free to come down and express your creative talent with us. Always a night filled with community and good vibes, you can take the stage with no pressure or competition or simply join us to see who might get up on the night!

Penny Lane Weekender | Dovedale Towers | Friday 8th – Sunday 10th August
Penny Lane Weekender returns for a third year after becoming a smash hit from its year-on-year success. The festival is back with a bang, taking place on the weekend starting Friday 8th, with a lineup that is packed with talent Known for showcasing some of the best emerging musical talent, this serves as a cheaper alternative to the major summer gigs and festivals, whilst still experiencing a great atmosphere. We’d recommend getting down to see Miles Temp, who has regularly featured on our very Florrie Radio playlist!

Traits | Kazimier Stockroom | Saturday 2nd August
Florrie Radio regulars Traits will be at Kazimier Stockroom on Saturday 2nd for one of their best gigs yet. Continuing their run of upcoming success, the band are going from strength to strength, having most recently played at Liverpool’s On The Waterfront supporting Sting! Tickets for the upcoming gig may be hard to come by, thus proving that this band are one to keep an eye on! However, don’t let that stop you from trying!

Folly Fest | The Rotunda, 107-115 Great Mersey Street | Friday 29th August
Folly Fest returns at The Rotunda for a day celebrating the cultural diversity of North Liverpool. Jam packed with live music and entertainment, along with face painting and street games for kids, this free event is perfect for all the family! Get down for a great day of community and fun!
CMAT | Jacaranda Baltic | Sunday 31st August
After recent hit success and following an iconic Glastonbury set, CMAT will be taking the stage at the Jacaranda Baltic this month in support of upcoming new album “Euro-Country”. The singer will be performing two launch shows at already iconic Liverpool venue, so keep an eye out for tickets to ensure you don’t miss out!

Summer Indie Label & Craft Market | Rough Trade | 9th August
Head to Rough Trade this month for their very first all-day market! Crate dig through records from local, independent, and up-and-coming labels or grab some merch from your favourite artists. Discover your new favourite read by picking up a DIY zine, or while away the afternoon exploring stalls of handmade gifts, knick-knacks, and art – all made locally. The market is free to attend, so support your local independent scene and help make the market’s inaugural event a success by stopping by on Saturday 9th.

Celebrating Bold Street | Bold Street | 17th August
This month, Liverpool celebrates its iconic Bold Street with a jam-packed day of weird and wonderful activities. Have you ever wanted to meet a stilt-walker? Well now you can! On Sunday 17th August, head to Bold Street for face painting, live music, and even a tie-dye sock workshop. You can also check out the Makers Market in the Bombed Out Church, but make sure you’re back in time to meet Zelva, a giant (animatronic) tortoise, who will be making a few appearances throughout the day. You’ll have the chance to feed and pet her – and hopefully learn a thing or two as well.

Paint & Sip Acrylic Painting Workshop | John Lewis | 28th & 29th August
If you like the idea of being an artist but aren’t sure where to start, John Lewis has just the thing for you this August. Aquarium Behind the Scenes Tour | World Museum | Multiple dates throughout August
If you’re looking for something a little different to do with the kids this summer, World Museum has just the thing for you. Join a behind the scenes tour of their aquarium with one of the museum’s knowledgeable team members to learn all about your favourite sea creatures and the different elements that go into taking care of them and making sure they feel right at home in their tanks.
