The Florrie Education Programme:


The Florrie has recently been accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to deliver vocational qualification equivalents of GCSE A-C.  The Florrie’s education and training programme is targeting those who are not in education, training or employment.

Our training philosophy aims to engage and inspire those who may have barriers to learning by providing a personalised learning experience and having; small class sizes; additional support for learning needs; study visits; expert witnesses and masterclasses; inclusive supportive learning environment and integration within the local community as well as role models and mentors.


Community Arts Administration and Business Administration Level 2

The Florrie will be offering NVQ Level 2 (vocational equivalents of GCSE A-C) in Community Arts Administration and SVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration.

The qualification will include employability elements such as problem solving, communication skills and workplace competencies and behaviours up-skilling.  Work experience and informal learning are also an integral part of the programme.

The education programme will link to live creative projects that the Florrie and our collaborators are working on.  For example, work experience will allow our learners to apply their community art skills to the development and exhibition of Roger Dean’s Homes for the Future.  Learners undertaking a business and administration qualification will have an opportunity to gain valuable work experience at the Florrie or on work experience places with partners such as the health sector.

The NVQ will run 2 days a week for a minimum of 12 weeks.



Pre-Employment and Functional Skills

The Florrie is offering pre-employment courses with job focused training, introductory vocational course and certificates such as first aid, English, Maths and IT up to Level 2, CV preparation and interview techniques for 15 – 29 year olds.

The employability course will run for 12 weeks in total with 2 weeks work experience and can be spread over 1 – 5 days.

We have built relationships with employers that will offer our learners the opportunity to secure employment with the prospect of higher wages and meaningful progression routes.
