Play & Eat Scheme

Mon 18 Feb

Our play & eat scheme is back this February half term to help fight holiday hunger at a time when many parents struggle without the support of school dinners. The scheme will run from 18th-22nd February, 10am-1pm. We have limited places available for 5-14yrs. If you are interested in signing your kids up please contact us on info@theflorrie.org. Unfortunately places are extremely limited and will be awarded on a first come first served basis.

The Florrie will also be hosting Dingle and Granby Children’s Centre who will be running a ply scheme for 0-5yrs. This scheme is on a drop in basis so you can just turn up on day but a parent or carer must stay with any children attending this group.

During 2018 we served over 2000 meals to children on our scheme and we couldn’t have done it with out the support of the generous people who donated food either directly to us or to the donation bins at Tesco Park Road. We are collecting food donations again to support the scheme and you can drop them off either at The Florrie during our normal opening hours or there’s another trolly for donations at Tesco Park Rd.

Some stats about our eat & play scheme in 2018:

In 2018 your food donations allowed us to serve over 2000 breakfasts and hot lunches to children from 0-14yrs.

In 2018 your donations stopped 57 families from being pushed into food poverty.

In 2018 your food donations helped 63 people who had benefit sanctions.

Your donations helped us provide sanitary and hygiene products to 60+ young people.

Your donations meant every child in our play and eat scheme had fresh fruit and a hot meal every day during school holidays.

Over 300 older people were given food parcels containing all the fresh veg ingredients to make homemade soup.
